Prep Cook

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our dietary team in a long-term care setting. The Prep Cook plays a vital role in supporting meal preparation for residents by ensuring food is prepared safely, accurately, and in accordance with established dietary guidelines. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items according to standardized recipes and production schedules
  • Assist with washing, chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients
  • Follow therapeutic and special diet requirements (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, texture-modified diets)
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to all sanitation and food safety standards
  • Properly store food and label items according to policy
  • Assist with meal service as needed
  • Work collaboratively with cooks, dietary aides, and other kitchen staff
  • Comply with state and federal regulations related to food service in long-term care

Qualifications

  • Previous food preparation experience preferred (healthcare or institutional setting a plus)
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow recipes and dietary instructions accurately
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
  • Must be able to pass background checks as required for long-term care employment
